by Victoria Bennion and Natalie Tealdi
Victoria Bennion and Natalie Tealdi, two sisters raising autistic children, recently launched The Autism Mums Podcast with the aim of supporting parents and carers navigating the challenges of raising autistic children.
Their lived experience offers valuable insight not just for fellow parents and carers but also for coaches. When a client is neurodivergent, the path to change can look different. Understanding how neurodivergent individuals process information or approach transformation helps coaches offer more effective support to everyone they work with.
“We know firsthand how isolating and overwhelming it can feel as a parent or carer of an autistic child, and how vital it is to have support,” says Victoria. “We want to build a community where people can come for connection, understanding, and practical insights that make a difference in daily life.”
“Our podcast addresses the real-life challenges and triumphs that families experience, helping to raise awareness and promote understanding within the community,” says Natalie.
Each episode offers a mix of parent to parent chats, practical strategies, reflections, and expert interviews. Whether someone’s celebrating a win, managing a meltdown, or just trying to make it through the day, they’ll find something that resonates.
And that’s exactly what makes it so valuable. This is lived experience in motion. It’s about systems, support, self-compassion, and the invisible labour most people don’t see but many of your clients may be carrying.
Many of the podcast listeners are parents and carers trying to hold down jobs, navigate healthcare and education systems, whilst caring for their children.
As a coach, you may be working with these parents or carers. The Autism Mums Podcast offers unfiltered insight into what these clients are carrying with them when they arrive in your space.
Across the episodes, you’ll hear stories and insights that touch on:
- Advocacy – the cognitive and emotional load of advocacy, appointments and constant vigilance
- Parental Guilt – the quiet grief of a life you imagined
- Overwhelm – from healthcare waiting lists to battling local authorities
- Reframing Success – learning to celebrate small wins, redefine progress, and resist societal norms
- Community – the healing power of being witnessed, heard, and held by people who get it
